How do you reconcile this proposition with the statistics that state except for under age 21, women are more likely to be single than men? By the time we get to age 65+, 49% of women are single compared to men at 21%. Additionally, for every 100 unmarried women, there are 88 unmarried men.

I’m shocked to hear about your encounter at the bar with the early afternoon drunkard, but is that “really” your dating pool? I have an active social life, and I’ve only ever seen guys like that in the movies. Perhaps I need to get out of urban America, my experience is that sort of “single guy” is dysfunctional and not definitional of men. It may also be that both genders are opting for the single life, not because of “high standards” for a partner, but for a better quality of life.
