I don’t think reciprocation has to be like for like, that dramatically limits the essentially moral nature of the agreement. When men are expected to pay for dinner, it doesn’t seem reasonable to insist women must do also. It’s possible to barter a hen for a cow, if that’s what the parties consent to, and it doesn’t have to be a hen for a hen. Each party needs to be clear and forthcoming about the exchange of value, and negotiate what they bring and what they want. If they arrive at a consensus then it works for them.
