I have seen projections that the average cost of a trip for Tesla’s robo-taxi would be $0.18 per mile. How can this possibly be profitable if depreciation alone would probably be $0.25 a mile, assuming 25% depreciation on a $100,000 car. Factor in potentially high insurance, interest on car payments, repairs etc. We already know that Uber and Lyft are still not profitable.
