I think we have to dissect the issue of violence a little further. I define morality as essentially a social contract between parties that voluntarily enter into an agreement to attain net harm, and or evade net detriment.
The killing of George Floyd was immoral and I hope the courts find all cops guilty of at the very least manslaughter.
A large number of social activists, looted and destroyed the properties of parties that were not directly involved in Floyd’s killing. In my opinion that is also immoral. CNN had their building destroyed, despite being a highly supportive news organization.
I reject the idea that whites have a “natural duty” to pay penance for the atrocious sins of their slave owning forefathers; I do so, while expressing fervent gratitude to those that support anti racism of their own volition. I’m a black that’s been living in the US for 25 years, and the BLM movement does not speak on my behalf. Of course black lives matter, and yes I’m gonna say it: ALL LIVES MATTER.
I’m wholeheartedly in favor of the oppressed fighting towards equality before the law, while I don’t endorse the carte blanche bundling of all whites (cops or otherwise) into one monolithic collective declared as racist. I’m all for revolution, and in fact just launched one of my own, that challenges the idea only government should control and guarantee the value of money.
If activists are going to “take up arms,” understand that opposing forces can do the same. I’m pretty certain the white supremacists will take up the challenge, and a civil war is not in our interests.
