Is the objectification really unidirectional? According to this article, it seems it’s going in both directions.

“We found that 21 percent of girls in our sample asked for a nude picture to be sent to them and 42 percent of guys had been asked to send a naked picture, so it is certainly going in both directions.”

It also appears that at least on Twitter, women slut-shame other women as much as men do.

Apparently, the sexual objectification of women is fine, as long as they’re making good money from it. To be perfectly honest, I feel harassed by the sheer number of times, I’ve been approached by women online trying to sell me their nude photos. How about the pay gap between female and male fashion models? Oh and aren’t women predisposed to find muscular men more attractive?

Perhaps the reason why both men and women find the female body so valuable, is because it is. I’m a big fan of philosopher Immanuel Kant’s imperative that we should always treat people as ends in themselves never as merely a means to an end. Perhaps your juxtaposition is a faux dichotomy?

I’m really not a fan of identity politics, be it setting up black race vs. white race or woman vs. man. I think it’s divisive, and is counterproductive to those of like minds that sincerely want to make a positive change.
