Oppression at its essence is race and gender agnostic. In my mind, Nietzsche captures the oscillation of oppression between the “Masters” and the “Herd.” I was born in West Africa, and Africans immigrate to the USA because there’s less oppression than there is in African countries. Even in the USA there’s a power struggle between Africans vs. African Americans.

Consider the #metoo movement, absolutely necessary to abate centuries of patriarchal oppression, abuse and aggression; I’m totally committed to the need for women to be protected, and respected; I’m committed to gender equality. I pause with concern when some #metoo advocates declare that the women must always be believed. Such a proposition is a violation of a mans right to innocence until proven guilty. THE WOMAN MUST BE HEARD AND TAKEN EXTREMELY SERIOUSLY. To proposition that the man is automatically lying is tantamount to an act of oppression, because we know that 2–8% of women do in fact make fake claims.
