PayPal implementation in West Africa is problematic, and the support is limited. There’s no support for the Leone currency. We may need to look at alternatives such as paystack.

There’s been a long standing problem with integrating Sierra Leone into the global digital economy, and it starts with us not having the basic network switch/routing functionality for electronic transaction processing. There won’t be any meaningful changes until we have the infrastructure. There’s also the credibility issue: KYC — Know Your Customer. With all the fear of fraud, how do the big transaction companies KNOW that the user swiping the credit/debit card is authentic?
