Stoicism has a very interesting view if detachment or rather “managed attachment”. This involves explicitly cultivating resilience alongside the special “love” feeling. The objective is to maintain emotional equilibrium in the event of the loss of a loved one e.g. via death or divorce.
I have found in my experience with “no strings attached” dating, it can actually be the cleanest and most rational path to affective fulfillment. No attachment doesn’t mean No affection.
