Thank you for sharing this story, I found it very difficult to read yet very enlightening. Another horrendous story of the atrocities of the slave trade.

I wonder whether it’s fair or accurate to use the story of Sarah as the core example for highlighted opening sentence? Most of the over-sexualization of black women I encounter today is in black owner media such as BET and the King magazine. Additionally, while Sarah was enslaved, black women today are not only voluntarily entering into “modeling” agreements, but intentionally emphasizing their sexuality with butt and boob implants. I’ve seen women of all races gain millions of followers on Instagram after extreme cosmetic surgery. Sex sells for sure, but I don’t think we can lay the blame exclusively at the feet of the buyers.
