There is really no such thing as ‘unconditional love’, and the phrase itself is an oxymoron. The condition is always that the object of attention is of sufficient value. Now you do clarify that in your next sentence, because I think what we mean by unconditional love, is that it persists independently of the exchange of utility or tangible value.

To be loved means to be valuable.
