Why in this age of professed ‘equality’ should any one strive to be ‘taken care of?’ This is precisely the reason why so many end up with an adoptee as a partner instead of an adult. Yes, of course each party has their needs and desires, but the principle of reciprocity dictates an interdependent taking care of each other, as opposed to a dependent or codependent being taken care of.

It’s not so much that such adults (and I mean this in a gender agnostic sense), want to be loved unconditionally, I think it’s that they don’t want the obligation to reciprocate.
