The problem I have though with your headline, is that so many miss the nuance, and assume you are referring to [all] Americans. Many, including myself are turned off by the proposition that white Americans are racist, simply by virtue of their race. Ironically that is in of itself a racist proposition.

I think it’s extremely important to emphasize the distinction between the institution which has no conscious capability to be racist, vs the racist people that shape the policies of the institution.

Another distinction, I’d like to make is between anti-racism and the strife to build positive race relations. Clearly, you fall into the latter; even in the way you reached out to Denise’s parents. God bless you for that.

I want to see a world where ‘we’ can listen, and try to understand the fears and values of ‘racists’; setting the stage (prayerfully) for them to then understand our perspective.
